WIBISCO coupled an innovative digital strategy with national pride to win big, when their “Blue Vanilla” social media campaign won them a Gold Award at the Caribbean Advertising Federation’s (CAF) American Advertising Awards (AAA), formerly known as the ADDY Awards.
WIBISCO leveraged the limited edition flavour for Tea Time cookies, created to mark Barbados’s 50th year of Independence, to develop snack-sized video and photo content designed to amplify fans’ experience across Facebook and Instagram. Using an exciting mix of animated GIF files, video and photography, their original content included fun, interactive digital puzzles built around the Blue Vanilla brand.
Abigail Brown, Brand Manager at WIBISCO said, “We were thrilled to receive such a positive response to Blue Vanilla. It took one of our beloved traditional flavours and added an innovative twist! The Tea Time brand personality is playful, and particularly suited for engaging digital content.”
The winning campaign was conceived and created for WIBISCO by Advertising and Public Relations Agency, Virgo Communications.
Senior Account Manager at Virgo, Kevin Thompson, commended the content creators of the Virgo digital team; “We work with our clients to help them maximise the benefits and reach of the various digital platforms for their brands. This campaign took the light-hearted spirit of Blue Vanilla Tea Time, and scaled it across different media in an effective way.”
2016 was a good year for WIBISCO. In addition to launching the limited edition Tea Time Blue Vanilla, the company won the coveted Caribbean Exporter of the year award from the Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export).
